Unidentified gunmen have reportedly carried an attack at Ekwueme Junction, in Oko Community of Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The attackers, who struck at around 6.15 A.M on Friday, three persons, set a vehicle ablaze, while a motorcycle rider escaped death.
Mr Okechukwu Ubanese, a resident of the are who spoke to Community explained that the gunmen fired several that the residents got panicking for safety. It happened in a flash. But, when the gunshots died-down and we came out, we saw that three persons are dead, two injured while a vehicle has burnt beyond recognition. The driver of the vehicle, who managed to escape told us that the unknown gunmen said that they are cultists.
A motorcycle owner, who also escaped the attacker's gunshots told us that they fired at him but he miraculously dodge the bullets; Chukwuemeka said.
Also, Mr Onyema Anayorchi, a shop owner in the area, told community that the attackers came in a vehicle without number plate and started shooting sporadically into the air and immediately fled. I was still inside my shop because I slept there due to unsophisticated rain of yesternight.  I heard the gunshots but I discovered later that they left a vehicle burnt beyond recognition, three died instantly, two wounded while a motorcycle operator told us that he narrowly escaped their bullets. It’s so unfortunate that we witnessed such an ugly incident in this community that is usually very peaceful and sprawling with business activities especially a place that students of Federal Polytechnic, Oko make to be lively at every period; he said.
